STAY IN THE KNOW
about
The music curriculum at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts offers all students the opportunity to study music theory (classical and jazz) training from music fundamentals to advanced harmony, perform in large and small ensembles (instrumental and vocal) and study music technology along with film scoring. Each ensemble performs in public concerts three times a year, including the annual Music Gala in February, which features all ensembles. The Opera Workshop presents a musical and grand opera each year.
In Vocal Music, all students participate in Vocal Ensemble or Concert Choir. In addition to these ensembles, students have the opportunity to audition for Opera, Vocal Jazz Ensemble and Gospel Choir. First year students take Vocal Fundamentals and Sight Singing. In Instrumental Music, students participate in Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble, Lab Band, Brass Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, String Ensembles, Piano Ensembles, Woodwind Ensembles and Jazz Combos.
